CASE STUDY · ANTWERP TO BIRMINGHAM

Containers released, devanned and rebuilt into trailers for Birmingham.

For a United Kingdom forwarding agent, Skye Logistics coordinated multiple containers arriving in Antwerp. The operation combined carrier release, customs-controlled movement to the warehouse, container devanning, palletisation, trailer loading and onward transit to the final customer in Birmingham.

THE CHALLENGE

What the operation required.

The cargo had to move from ocean containers into road trailers without losing control of the customs status. Port release, terminal collection, warehouse handling and the onward United Kingdom movement required one connected operational and documentary plan.

THE SKYE APPROACH

How we built the movement.

  1. 01

Coordinate container release with the ocean carrier and collection from the Antwerp terminal

  2. 02

Arrange the required customs transit movement from terminal to warehouse

  3. 03

Devann the containers, sort the cargo and place it onto pallets

  4. 04

Load the palletised cargo into trailers and arrange the onward transit movement to Birmingham

THE OPERATIONAL OUTCOME

A clear process that can be executed.

01

One coordinated flow from carrier release to final road departure

02

Containers converted into palletised trailer cargo

03

Customs status controlled across both transit stages

04

Clear accountability for the UK agent throughout the Antwerp operation
